Mohali, Morinda stations lack basic amenities
CHANDIGARH: After announcement of the rail budget, Mohali may have got more halts but the infrastructure in both these stations is in a dilapidated condition. With just two to three trains coming there till now, the Mohali and Morinda railway station are in a bad state of affairs and there is nothing in the name of passenger facilities. Mohali station is located on the outskirts of the city.
1x1 polls
One can hardly find a signboard in Mohali giving directions toward the railway station. Very less number of rickshaw pullers and autorickshaw drivers park near the station and passengers have to walk almost a kilometre just to hire a cab or bus. There are no good eateries here and cleanliness is a major issue with all platforms dirty. Several fans do not work and taps often run dry.
Aggravating the troubles, travelers often complain about toilets being locked. The situation is similar at Morinda station as well. Phase-IX resident Amarjeet Singh said: "Our hopes are high and we expect things to get better soon. Basic amenities are a must and should be available to all."
Divisional railway manager P K Sanghi of the Ambala division said: "There have been many complaints regarding poor hygiene at the Mohali railway station. We will work on the matter. We are working on a project at Morinda station to provide basic facilities to public."
